Over twenty-five years of IT experience: technical writing, educational course development, teaching/training, application programming, project management

Precision Studio remote services include:

Technical Writing

My writing background includes: reference books, software documentation, user guides, course-ware, API documentation, eLearning programs, marketing collateral, and project management methodologies.

Teaching/Training

I have taught a variety of topics: English composition, effective speaking, computer programming, computer operations, and project management methodology. I have functioned as: adjunct faculty, both classroom and online, corporate trainer, and one-on-one tutor.

Project Management

I have developed, deployed, and managed cross-industry project management methodologies, and projects. My foremost effort was the Morgan Stanley project involving the restoration/regeneration of documentation for all mainframe, and client-server systems, lost in the disaster of 9/11.

Precision Studio leverages experience and skills for success:

Throughout my career I have worked with engineers, project managers, corporate executives, developers, and educators to produce vital documentation and training materials for diverse groups including: corporate professionals, IT technicians, college students, adult learners, and business school students.

While the audience may differ, I am always focused on their needs when writing, teaching, and delivering materials.

Precision Studio remote services/rate:

I deliver technical services from my business offices. On-site, or hybrid engagements, are not accepted. Minimum rate is $100.00/hr.

Keys to success for an effective communicator:

  • Read In Search of Excellence by Peters and Waterman
  • Open and read my historic article Have you Found Excellence Yet? from Data Management Review
  • Study How to Win Friends and Influence People by Dale Carnegie
  • Build good character with your integrity as the foundation
  • Know your audience
  • Focus on productivity, accuracy, and timeliness
  • Discount nothing until you fully understand it (e.g., U.S. History)
  • Be effective, solo, and/or as part of a team
  • Avoid contractions when writing
  • Stop using clichés: “at the end of the day”, “low hanging fruit”, "win-win".......
  • Do not use fillers in your speech: “um”, “you know”, “like”, “look”, "let me be clear", "yeah"
  • Reserve the use of the word "awesome" for things that are truly "breath-taking"
  • Answer a question directly rather than evaluating the question by saying "that's a great question"
  • Increase your vocabulary daily
  • Learn another language, Spanish, Russian, Chinese, etc.
  • Avoid the temptation of using "blah, blah, blah" - address important details and move on
  • Be clear at all times and you won't want to say "let me be clear"
